OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS TREE
a romantic christmas gift idea

It's early in December and newlyweds Jacob and Tara are celebrating their first Christmas together. As such, they are also about to purchase their first Christmas tree. Ready to make the purchase, Tara anxiously waits for Jacob to get home from work. When he finally makes it home however, he surprises his wife with a small gift box. Tara accepts it and opens it.

Inside she is again surprised to see a very small pot with soil. A bit confused, Tara asked her husband what the pot was for. With a bit of a chuckle in his throat, he explained that it was a Christmas tree.

He further explained, that they would still be getting a larger tree in the meantime, but he wanted to grow their very first tree together. He went on to say "Even though it may be a young seed now, with love and care I know it will grow to be a strong and beautiful tree. And as it grows, may it remind us to grow stronger as well and show a more beautiful love each day." Tara marveled at the Jacob's sincere, loving words and with a smile agreed to the lovely concept.

That year under the tree they purchased, sat not only presents but the young Christmas tree as well. When it was large enough, the two planted the sprout in their backyard. They decorated it outside each year for ten years until it was finally time to cut it down and bring it inside.

That bittersweet year the couple opened presents, now with their children, under their very first Christmas tree. Once Tara had opened her gifts, Jacob gave her one last gift wrapped in a small box. Tara accepted the gift and opened it.

Much to her surprise, was the same small pot their first Christmas tree was potted in ten years before. Looking at her husband as a tear glistened in her eye, Jacob explained that it was a seed from the same tree now decorating their living room. The ever growing couple embraced and the tradition of their first Christmas tree went on for generation. And as their trees grew and grew so did their love for one another.
