Scott and Trisha are running late to the theater. As they hurry into the movie they've already bought tickets for, they are relieved to see that the lights are just dimming for the previews. The couple finds a seat in the lower middle section of the theater and begin watching movie trailers.
A few humorous previews of upcoming titles go by, and then for just a moment the screen goes black. Before Trisha had time to comment however, a soft violin begins to play and her attention is again drawn to the screen.
Immediately after the music began to play, a deep voice began to speak in unison with red glowing words emerging from the dark screen. Each slide read as follows:
In a world...
Where time is of the essence
But a moment is taken for granted
One man looks to change that
Forever...
In collaboration with Scotty Studios
And from the producers who brought you "Better Say YES!"
Comes a tale
of new beginnings...
One man
One woman
And ONE question...
(PAUSE)
As silences slowly envelops the theater and the next slide begins to appear, a different, more familiar voice comes out of the speakers. "Trisha, will you marry me?" says Scott.
Trisha shocked, turns to look at Scott who is now lowering down to one knee. He tells her he has loved her since he's met her, and that he knew this moment was just a matter of time. And again he repeats what the screen already shows "Trisha, will you marry me?" Laughing and crying simultaneously, Trisha says "Better Say YES!"
At that precise moment, the lights come on and she is surround by a roar of claps and cheers of all her closest family and friends who were all sitting in the theater as well. Again amazed, Trisha is congratulated by everyone.
To this day she still jokes that it was the best movie she'd ever been to.
**Note: It is not necessary to follow all the directions as stated and are only explained as such for ease of use. Alterations to, or inspirations from, any romantic ideas are very welcome and encouraged.
This proposal idea take time and effort to execute properly. As such, the process can get frustrating if waiting isn't one of your strongest attributes. With patient, however, your labors will be rewarded. Stick in there!
1. Contact your local theater and ask them what requirements must be met to place your proposal idea in their previews. Then, create a short video to meet their specifications (If you need help, the CIS department at your local university should be able to help you).
2. OK, if making a preview is too much for you there is an alternative. You can, if you so choose, buy ad space before the previews. Personally I think the preview is a bit more awe-inspiring, but do what works best for you.
3. Once everything is complete, call the theater again and purchase the ad space.
4. now contact her closest family and friends and invite them to be part of the fun! (make sure everyone is notified in advance so they can mark the date.)
5. *OPTIONAL: If you can afford it, rent the auditorium for the show. This will give you much more flexibility with the theater.
Now that the preliminaries of this proposal idea are complete, we can move on to the big moment!
6. Plan a movie date with you girlfriend. When the day comes, go to your movie. *Don't miss your preview!
7. Find a seat in the lower center rows and enjoy the previews! It would help if you engaged in conversation and used other maneuvers to distract her attention from the audience.
*Note: Make sure to let everyone know ahead of time to sit near the edges and near the top. This way there is less of a chance they'll be seen and late-arrivers can come in from the top entrance.
8. When the preview finishes, get down on one knee and propose.
9. Ask the theater manager if the lights can be turned on for a moment so she can see everyone. This should be no problem if you choose to rent the auditorium.
That's it, your engaged... congratulation!
