Undoubtedly one of the most romantic destinations in Spain, the island of Majorca is a world of blue sea beaches, hidden coves, historic villages, scenic peaks, and a decidedly active nightlife even tempting to lovers who wouldn't mind to spend their days in bed.

Not to say that there isn't plenty to do by day in Majorca as well. What follows are 10 of the most romantic Majorca activities the island has to offer.

1. Climb up to Cap de Formentor

The Majorcans call it the "meeting point of the winds." A climb to the top of this cap, located on the eastern end of the Formentor peninsula, offers brilliant views of the Mediterranean Sea and white sandy beaches below.

2. Alcudia Beach

One of the most romantic of Majorca's beaches, Alcudia beach stretches for 10 glorious kilometers to S'Albufera Natural Park. Along the beaches there are many coves, ideal for couples wanting to escape the tourist masses on a romantic stroll or have a secret picnic.

3. Valldemossa Hotel Restaurant, Valldemossa

Gorgeous gourmet restaurant overlooking lush green mountain landscapes, serving fresh local produce lightly cooked or steamed with cinnamon, liquorice and lemon.

4. Palma Cathedral

This 13th century cathedral façade in Palma's old town is most impressive after dark, ideal for an after dinner walk through the city. Return in the day for dazzling interior views.

5. Galera Carriage Rides

Outside the cathedral, hop into a carriage for a tour of Palma's old town. Stop off at Tito's on the marina for a tropical cocktail, or request the driver take you to all the way to your room at the Hotel Convent de la Missio, one of the most romantic Majorca hotels on the island.

6. Sa Colabra rock formations

Take a scenic drive up the west coast from Sa Calobra for stunning views of the island below. Take it slow on the way up, and engage your inner Spanish passions to impress your other half and speed all the way down.

If a leisurely stroll is more your pace, Can Pastilla beach, located in the former fishing village of Castilla, is particularly beautiful at sunset.

9. The Rising Sun

Also in Castilla, The Rising Sun club at Can Pastilla features nightly live music, of a Spanish-influenced soul variety - enjoy a dance or the mild evening air with your partner.

10. Chopin's Carthusian monastery

The lush green town of Valldemossa became home to composer Chopin who took refuge and inspiration in what he considered one of the most beautiful places on earth.
